Yusuf tucked in bed while Teta pulls the curtain back to show one small star

Bedtime stories
that end in sleep.

Ten gentle audio stories for Muslim families. Yusuf, Teta, one small star — and nothing exciting, on purpose.

Lights low, sound on. This is the last story of the set — the whole town going to sleep, one by one.

Goodnight Little Moon 3 min 51 · story 10 of 10

Most children are asleep before it ends. Most nights.

Why they work

Nothing to wait for. In most bedtime stories someone wakes up, sets off, discovers something. Great books, terrible timing. In these, the boy falls asleep, the grandmother stops talking, the cat is already asleep under a chair. There is no twist coming, so a child can let go.

Alhamdulillah, quietly. Gratitude, patience, honesty, kindness — carried inside the story, never announced. Teta doesn't lecture. Nobody is told they're being silly.

Made for the dark. A slow, warm voice. Long pauses. No music, no sound effects, nothing that spikes. Four to five minutes each — exactly one “just one more”.

The ten stories

  1. Yusuf and the Little StarA star can't sleep until she remembers the good things. Yusuf helps.
  2. The Lantern That Was Afraid of the DarkThe lantern is the scared one. So the child gets to be the brave one.
  3. Amina and the Very Long QueueA bakery on Friday, a queue out of the door, and a girl who hates waiting.
  4. The Boy Who Found a WalletA wallet on the pavement, a wooden aeroplane in a shop window, and a choice.
  5. Teta's GardenA pot of soil, a little water every day, and nothing — for a while.
  6. The Cat Who Came to TeaThe grey cat from the wall walks in, and there is only one biscuit left.
  7. The Quietest Sound in the HouseThe listening game: find the quietest sound, then a quieter one.
  8. The Broken BowlFour pieces, a tea towel, and what happens when Teta comes in from the garden.
  9. The Night the Rain CameWhere Yusuf lives, rain is not weather. It's an event.
  10. Goodnight Little MoonThe moon goes over the rooftops and says goodnight to everyone in the set.
